Sometimes it is hard to manage the resources we have. Money especially can slip through our fingers very quickly and is gone before we know it. The first step to managing our resources well is to notice how we are using them.

What are some ways to help you understand where your money is actually going?

Keep your receipts for the things you are buying so you can get a sense of how much you spend on things like gas, food, clothing – whatever you are buying from stores.

Keep track of the other ways you are spending money during the week for things like bingo and entertainment, money given to others, tobacco and other substances etc.

Look at your monthly bills. Add them up and divide by 4 weeks to see what you need to put aside each week to cover the costs of utilities, rent, heat, TV, phone, internet, loans, insurance etc.
